Isora means “to see the roots from the top”. This metaphor is used in the research of the music towards new sounds but always keeping in mind the seed, the essence, the intuition that keeps us connected to the roots.
Original compositions inspired by poetry and Spanish folk music serve as the starting point—the seed, the root. From there on, through improvisation, there is a search and live experimentation to create different sound atmospheres. The voice, oboe, trumpet, synthesizers, sampling and live electronic music are the tools used to build up the sound journey and trigger musical ideas. Spanish, the mother tongue of Ainhoa and Alvaro, serves as the language of transmission, evoking memories of their homeland while granting access to Spanish poetry, songs, and folklore that inspires their music.
Isora has performed in Uilenburgersjoel, Amsterdam, at Flair Studio during the Flair Dinner Concert Series #1 in Amsterdam where they premiered their new set described before and also in the TreeHouse NDSM in Amsterdam for the opening of “Tongues” the exhibition where interdisciplinary artists collaborate. In Spain they have performed in Madrid at Café El Despertar (a prestigious jazz club), Mina Gallery in Amsterdam, Godown in Amsterdam and they’ve been selected for the Roode Bioscoop X Amarte Sessions.
At the moment, they have just released their first single “Soledad” and they are producing their first EP and also experimenting and composing to enrich their live performances.
